Elderberry syrup

Elderberry syrup is a popular natural remedy that has been used for centuries to help boost the immune system and treat colds and flu. Here's a simple recipe for making elderberry syrup at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dried elderberries
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp ginger powder
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 1 cup honey

Instructions:

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the elderberries, water, cinnamon sticks, ginger powder, and cloves.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, until the liquid has reduced by about half.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  4. Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to strain the mixture into a clean bowl or jar.
  5. Discard the solids and let the liquid cool until it is warm to the touch.
  6. Add the honey to the warm liquid and stir until it is well combined.
  7. Pour the syrup into a clean jar or bottle and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 months.

To use the elderberry syrup, take 1-2 tablespoons daily to help boost your immune system and prevent colds and flu. If you are already sick, you can take the elderberry syrup every few hours until your symptoms improve.
